HSIE

Human Society and its Environment provides experiences that are meaningful and engaging for students to make responsible decisions about our world.

At Corpus Christi, we encourage students to actively engage in social, economic, religious, civic, and environmental issues that may affect them now or in the future. As a result of learning in HSIE, students should develop a sense of personal, community, national and global identity; and the knowledge, skills, and values and attitudes that will equip them to participate as responsible citizens, and maintain and improve the quality of their society and environment.

HSIE is currently organised into four strands:

  • Change and Continuity
  • Cultures
  • Environments
  • Social Systems and Structures

This knowledge base provides the foundation for studies of Australian and world history and geography; for social, cultural and legal, environmental and economic studies; and for citizenship education.

Come and see learning in action at Corpus Christi!

We’d love a chance to show you how learning works for young people in our school. Our dedicated teachers plan the learning in detail to help each student do their best.
