Colour Houses

At Corpus Christi, there are four sports houses for all school sporting carnivals. They are Banjora (yellow), Tamaroo (green), Brolga (blue) and Aringa (red). Each colour house had a different meaning.

Banjora (Yellow)

Banjora is an aboriginal name for koala. A koala lives in a gum leaf tree. They have sharp claws to climb up the gum leaf tree. In Australia, there are over 600 species of eucalypts, but koalas only eat about 20 species.

Tamaroo (green)

Tamaroo is an aboriginal name for ring tail possum. The ring tail possum uses its tail to cling onto branches when it is climbing.

Brolga (Blue)

Brolgas are tall birds that live in wetlands. They have grey feathers and a patch of red skin on their heads. They eat grass, roots, frogs and small lizards. A male and female dance together. The Aboriginal legend of the brolga is that of a beautiful young woman who was always dancing instead of working. She was turned into a tall, slender bird. Her name was Brolga. The complicated dance of the brolga is imitated by Aboriginal People in some of their dances.

Aringa (red)

Aringa is a little silver shiny fish that looks very much like bait fish. Aringa is often found swimming in schools.

Representative Sport

Representative sports are offered throughout the Parramatta Diocese allowing students to develop their sporting skills on a higher level, competing with other students in a zone, diocesan and state level. For information regarding representative sport in the Parramatta Diocese, go to the PDCPSSC website.
